Valuation Myths ______________________________________________________________
You really want to know the fair market value of your
company? There is only one way to discover the true
fair market value of your company | sell it! Consider
the IRSfs comments on fair market value: the amount
a willing buyer will pay a willing seller when each is
fully informed and neither is compelled to take action.
Any other approach to discovering fair market value is
an attempt to predict the future | a guess. Donft
misunderstand. It is important to go through the
process of making the guess many times throughout
the life cycle of your business leading up to the
eventual sale of your company. In fact, our firm makes
these guesses every day. The guesses are enhanced
by assessing common value drivers and their
presence or lack there of in any particular company.
Another important ingredient in getting your arms
around the value of your company is avoiding
common valuation myths.

Baby Boomers and the Coming Glut ______________________________________________________________
When is the optimum time to sell a company? Next
to gwhat is my company worth,h this is the most
common question we hear in the middle market
investment banking world. Our response has always
been to encourage business owners to focus on their
personal objectives first | let those drive the timing of
a sale. Naturally, within that framework there are better
times than others, and the coming baby boomer
transition may provide us with one important timing
consideration.
